ALISON - The Free Global Learning Experience

ALISON is a FREE online learning resource for basic and essential workplace skills. It provides high-quality, engaging, interactive multimedia courseware for certification and standard-based learning. All courses are accessible for free and are available at http://alison.com/go/jan/edu/home.

Courses Available on ALISON:

  • ICDL (International Computer Driving License) - IT Certification training that helps educators integrate technology into their courses.
  • e-Citizen - Teaches on how to use e-mail and also how to surf the Web. The e-Citizen IT-user certification is offered by the British Computer Society in partnership with the ECDL Foundation worldwide.
  • Digital Enterprise - Develops IT skills, provides IT-related health and safety awareness, and improves touch typing proficiency.
  • Microsoft Office Excel Training - Learn how to create, edit, and save spreadsheets.
  • Microsoft Office Word Training - Introduces the fundamental principle of Word 2003.
  • Microsoft Office Access Training - Learn how to use and create databases.
  • Microsoft Office Outlook Training - Learn how to use Outlook.
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint Training - Learn how to produce PowerPoint presentations.

eTeaching Institute

ION (Illinois Online Network)

ION offers the Making the Virtual Classroom a Reality (MVCR) program, which is a series of online courses designed to help faculty members acquire the skills and knowledge needed to teach online, thus improving the quality of online education.

@One (Improving Education through Technology)

@One provides educators on how to use technology to enhance student learning. It provides training and online resources. Depending on the course taken, users may have to pay a minimal fee. Training is available through Desktop Seminars, Online Courses, or Hands-On Institutes.

Sloan-C Workshops

Sloan-C Certificate Program is a sequence of three foundational courses and three electives leading from the conceptual to the implementation of online effective practices. The program's theoretical underpinning stems from Sloan-C's five pillars of quality in online education: learning and cost effectiveness, access, and faculty and student satisfaction.
